A Love That Feels Like Home…

We met in 2019 at work, and from day one we were friends. We loved learning together, laughing through long days, and building not just our careers, but a genuine connection. Somewhere in between all of that, we became best friends. And somewhere in the middle of all the laughter, we realized we were meant to be with each other.

It did not feel like a single defining moment. It felt like discovering something that had always been there. We just knew we had found our person.

Throughout our relationship, we have traveled to so many places and loved exploring together. But our biggest adventure happened in November of 2023, when a work trip to Paris turned into one of the most unforgettable moments of our lives.

Cairo had been planning a picnic by the Seine, with an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. But it was a gloomy Monday morning with a high chance of rain, and I was tempted to skip the picnic and maybe head to the Eiffel Tower later that evening. Cairo, however, was determined. So before we made our way to the spot, we stopped at a charming local bakery for a warm pain au chocolat and slowly wandered along the Seine, searching for the perfect place to sit and take in the view.

When we arrived, Cairo suggested we take some photos. After a few solo shots, he handed his phone to a nearby photographer, which did not seem unusual since there were bridal shoots happening all around us. The photographer asked us to turn so our backs faced him and we faced the Eiffel Tower. One posed photo turned into five, and I started to feel a little suspicious. Our bags were with a stranger, Cairo’s phone was with a stranger, and for some reason, he kept urging me to keep my back turned.

Then Cairo said he needed to tie his shoelace, which made me pause, because between the two of us, I am always the one with untied shoelaces, not him. I turned around, and instantly knew what was happening. Cairo was down on one knee.

The rest is a blur. Neither of us remembers exactly what was said, only that it was filled with tears, joy, and the overwhelming excitement of knowing we were about to spend our lives together.

The last few months have been such an exciting whirlwind of planning this wedding. And now, two years after that magical day in Paris, we cannot wait to say “I do” to continue choosing each other, loving each other, and building a life full of laughter, adventure, and a love that feels like home.
